"Do the Six"

Mar 20, 2020

Many of us are adjusting to the new reality of working from home, curfews, and other restrictions.

Google in their true leadership and forward thinking fashion , developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization,  the “Do the Five” campaign which highlights the steps to stay safe and help stop the spread of COVID-19

I believe a very important step in this list was missed.

It is a step and a constant which affects our ability to fight this respiratory virus and future viruses.

It is also a huge opportunity to re-educate the public on its importance and YET we seem to fear bringing this up.  It seems odd that governments are willing to force its citizens to stay home to protect themselves but aren’t asking the public to address this one factor which is SO important to our health.  It could save lives!

Why isn’t the medical community or anyone talking about this MISSING step?

The 6th step is “Increase/Build your Immunity!

”DO THE SIX”..

We know for a fact that those with strong immunities are better able to cope with sickness in general and especially respiratory diseases.

Even if you have diabetes or a heart condition you can increase your immunity!

We certainly all want to avoid getting exposed and maybe you can, but it could prove more difficult than we think or hope!

Even if you have ONLY 30 days before you get exposed to COVID-19, you HAVE 30 days to give your body a boost if you:

  1. Stop smoking – Right Now
  2. Stop vaping/marijuana  – Right Now
  3. Eat better – whole foods (look up Whole 30 program and what it does to your immunity in just 30 days).  Stop eating junk food.
  4. Sleep at least 7 hours a day
  5. Exercise – Start running/biking today.  Do Yoga.  (Curfews in many States allow you to exercise outside as long as you are not in a group).  It also helps with stress and energy levels.
  6. Laugh – a proven boost to your immune system.  Watch some comedies, do anything to laugh. I’m on my 3rd run of “the office” – I never get tired of it.

Have you seen pictures of someone’s lungs after just 30 days of quitting smoking?  Check it out….

According to Coronvirus expert, Michael Osterholm, Chinese smokers were the hardest hit by the virus and though the US smoking rates may be much lower, our problem will be with the 40% of the population that is obese.

Obesity has a huge impact on your immunity!  For what junk food does to our bodies it should have additional taxes like cigarettes.

We all like quick and easy solutions but they don’t always solve the problem.  I could write a list of 100 benefits tied to the compounding effect of boosting your immunity. (Eg – if you can do 40 push ups you have reduced your risk of heart disease by 96%).   If you never become  exposed and you followed a program to boost your immunity, will you be upset?

Hard work and diligence brings results. Yet we focus on hand washing and social distancing with no talk about boosting your immunity.

It doesn’t matter where you start from – just start building your immunity today.
